Our client, the Metropolitan Washington Airports Authority (Airports Authority), is seeking a highly experienced and dynamic leader to fill the position of Vice President and Airport Manager for Washington Dulles International Airport (IAD).
Reporting to the EVP and COO, the Vice President and Airport Manager for IAD directs a wide range of operational, maintenance, construction, commercial and business management and administrative activities occurring onsite at IAD and for the Dulles Toll Road (DTR) and serves as a principal advisor to the EVP and COO on IAD and DTR activities. Additionally, s/he and facilitates coordination of the the Metrorail construction impacts on IAD and the DTR, efforts that are expected to continue to at least 2020.
Through a team of Department Managers, s/he directs the work of employees engaged in Airport operations, professional engineering, utility operations, maintenance trades, administrative and business management, and support activities.
Candidates for this role must have a Bachelor’s Degree in Aeronautics, Airport Management, Aviation Management, Business Administration, Public Administration or any field providing a strong foundation for successful performance of the duties described above. An equivalent combination of education, experience and training will be acceptable. Candidates must have at least ten (10) years of progressively responsible experience in Airport Management that includes a) significant experience in a management position at a TSA Security Category I or higher airport; b) airport management experience at a large or medium hub ariport, and c) experience managing multiple issues while managing conflicting interests. Experience/exposure to the nuances in managing an airport with significant international service would be a distinct plus.
A Master’s degree in any field, such as an MBA, would be considered a plus but is not required.
