The 3S Sr Director & General Manager (Subsidiary Director) is responsible and accountable for overall management and day to day operations of the 3S Engineering and 3S Certification LLC Subsidiary. In addition, the GM has Profit and Loss (P&L) financial performance responsibility for achieving or exceeding the annual Financial Management Plan (FMP) commitments. In this capacity the GM is responsible for all facets of subsidiary operations including execution of all 3S Engineering / Certification projects, Engineering Services, Business Development and for providing management oversight of the 3S Certification Organization Designation Authorization (ODA). The GM receives an annual Subsidiary Delegation flow down directly from Sierra Nevada Corporation (SNC) and reports organizationally to the SNC IAS Vice President of Engineering.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:
-Directing and managing the activities of the Subsidiary team to ensure effective business execution, business development, effective customer engagement and accurate financial accounting and reporting
-Directly responsible (as the 3S ODA Holder) for compliance and support of the FAA Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) between 3S Certification and the FAA, governing the requirements for ODA operations, approvals and record keeping under Federal Law
-Ensuring the ODA Holder’s management, Administrator(s) and ODA Unit Members possess and maintain demonstrated integrity in their experience and interface with the FAA
-Developing and maintaining a positive relationship with the Wichita FAA ACO Manager
-Ensuring adequate resources and equipment are available to support all business and ODA activities including oversight and training
-Establishing priorities and adherence to project schedules, critical milestones and delivery commitments.
-Directing and managing administrative and technical functions to ensure contractual requirements are met
-Coordination with SNC IAS executive management and other SNC organizations to ensure the Subsidiary’s commitments in support of SNC objectives are met
-Interface and effectively communicate with SNC and external commercial customers to build and maintain strong relationships
-Strategic planning with short-term and long-term time horizons
-Hold monthly Program / Financial Management Reviews with IAS / SNC leadership
-Prepare weekly status reports for IAS Senior Leadership review and reporting
-Conduct weekly project reviews to status projects and performance against objectives
-Development of performance measurement metrics to track performance of projects
-Ensuring adequate Safety, Quality and Cleanliness standards are met for an effective work place
-Maintaining policies, procedures and work instructions affecting the efficiency of the organization
-Applying continuous productivity and process improvement principles to improve cycle-time, efficiency and competitiveness in all areas of Engineering and Certification operations
-Effective Resource planning to support demands and minimize overhead costs
-Promoting Integrated Product Team (IPT) concepts to inspire productivity and efficiency
-Promoting individual development and growth opportunities for Subsidiary personnel
ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:
-Punctuality to work each day and prepared to work scheduled work hours Engagement and Interface with community and industry representatives
-Responsible for thoughtful adherence to all 3S and applicable SNC Policies, Procedures, and Compliance regulations (internal and external)
-Ensure the continued good standing of the 3S ODA as an FAA Delegated Organization by maintaining full compliance with all FAA requirements, regulations and adherence to the FAA approved 3S Certification ODA Manual
-Compliance with all International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) restrictions and procedures
-Responsible for timely execution of all personnel-related activities such as Time Sheet completion, Performance Evaluations, Salary Reviews, Succession Planning, etc.
-Responsible for leadership oversight and for ensuring Department/Team training
-BA/BS in Engineering, Science, Business or Equivalent Field of Study Minimum 10 years experience
-Master’s degree in Engineering, Science, or Business Administration is desirable.
-Requires Business Unit management experience through at least 10 years of demonstrated leadership and related experience in increasing levels of management, responsibility and authority at Aerospace and Defense-related corporations
-Requires a broad and comprehensive knowledge of Engineering, Aircraft Modification and FAA ODA Certification / Supplemental Type Certification processes
-Requires Demonstrated Business Acumen with preference for Business Administration / Finance background
-Experience with interfacing and maintaining effective relationships with senior level customer personnel
-Familiarity with Commercial and DOD contracting / processes
