The Department Chair will assist the Dean with the overall functions of the Division. This position is responsible for full-time instructor responsibilities and provides leadership, support, motivation, and accountability in day-to-day operations.
This position is responsible for six credit hours of instruction per fall and spring semester. The Department Chair is allowed to teach two classes for overload per semester. Over two classes for overload is rare and requires approval of Dean and Provost.

MANDATORY: (M1) Master’s degree in a department-related discipline from a regionally accredited institution of higher learning; (M2) Valid Missouri teaching certificate with the Department of Elementary and Secondary Education (or be willing to obtain current teaching certificate in secondary and post-secondary education from the State of Missouri at the applicant’s expense); (M3) Ground instructor, advanced certification and ground instructor, and instrument certification; (M4) Five years of employment experience in the industry or a related field; (M5) Three years of full-time teaching experience in a department-related discipline; (M6) Demonstrated ability to work effectively with business and industry; (M7) Demonstrate current knowledge in course content and effectiveness in teaching assigned subjects; (M8) Demonstrated leadership and/or management skills; (M9) Experience with an online Learning Management System (such as Canvas/Blackboard); (M10) Ability to work well with others; (M11) Strong oral and written communication skills; (M12) Ability to use information technology for professional productivity (such as Microsoft Office Suite).
DESIRABLE: (D1) Five years of full-time teaching experience in department-related discipline; (D2) Experience in a leadership role in a professional organization; (D3) An industry-recognized credential in the program of study; (D4) Experience with Part 141 flight schools; (D5) Experience with AABI accreditation; (D6) Evidence of community involvement; (D7) Experience with Colleague; (D8) Experience working within a collegiate setting.
