San Diego International Airport seeks a motivated leader to join the Development division as Director, Airport Planning & Noise. This role will work collaboratively to manage a range of strategic organizational initiatives required to assure we are community minded, customer-centered, and business-driven. You will have the opportunity to: • Lead a team of skilled professionals who support our airport planning, land use and noise mitigation programs; • Establish effective relationships with Federal and State Government Agencies; • Play a key role in supporting the implementation and execution of our Airport Development Program.
A successful applicant will demonstrate: • Ability to form productive relationships with coworkers, members of the community and regional partners; • Experience in dealing with aircraft noise matters; • Ability to develop a diverse team of professionals through leadership; • Knowledge of transportation network and land use planning; • Experience with Master planning and executing master plans;
Graduation from a four-year college or university with a degree in urban or regional planning or a closely related field; and at least ten years of progressively responsible experience in a public agency or consulting organization focused on land use and environmental planning processes, at least seven years of which were in a leadership capacity. An advanced degree in planning, environmental science or a closely related field is preferred.
The San Diego County Regional Airport Authority was created on January 1, 2003, as an independent agency to manage the day-to-day operations of San Diego International Airport and address the region’s long-term air transportation needs.
The legislation that created the Airport Authority mandates three main responsibilities:

?Serve as the region’s Airport Land Use Commission – and ensure the adoption of land use plans that protect public health and safety surrounding all 16 of the county’s airports.
The Airport Authority is governed by an appointed board of nine members who represent all areas of San Diego County and three ex-officio members. Three members serve as the Executive Committee.
