ABOUT THIS POSITION

The Aviation Department is seeking an Aviation Baggage Systems Supervisor (User Technology Specialist) to join our fast-growing team. This position interacts with airport stockholders including the airlines and local and federal agencies on a daily basis at Sky Harbor International Airport, managing the day-to-day operation and maintenance of an in-Line Security Baggage Handling System in a large HUB airport. Responsibilities include supervising City of Phoenix staff and contract staff engaged in the maintenance and operation of complex baggage handling systems.
The essential or major duties of this position are:
- Plan, organize, and coordinate maintenance of baggage handling equipment.
- Administration of BHS databases.
- Oversee Allen/Bradley BHS Architectural Controls, and ensuring BHS system compliance with Transportation Security Administration security directives and policies.
- Supervise Electronic Systems Specialists responsible for maintenance of high speed diverters, PLCs, vertical sorters, motor control panels, computer networks, Microsoft updates, conveyor belts, computer work stations, etc.
- Manage parts inventories; and assure that the city-owned assets are protected.
IDEAL CANDIDATE
- Knowledge and experience of low and medium electrical voltage.
- Familiar with work order management systems.
- Self-motivated and able to work independently as well as in a team environment, with the capacity to set priorities, organize time, and identify resources for projects.
SALARY
$57,075.20 - $86,902.40 annually. Candidates may be hired up to $81,120 depending upon qualifications.

Pension Information
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
- One year of experience in systems applications analysis, programming or telecommunications functions utilizing a variety of hardware and software, or installation and maintenance of digital systems, radio, and electronic communications systems;
- OR One year of experience in telephone station equipment and related telecommunications distribution systems;
- OR One year of experience in avionics maintenance,
- And course work including training or experience with one or more work station computers and one or more programming languages and one or more operating systems.
- Other combinations of experience and education that meet the minimum qualifications may be substituted.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
The minimum qualifications listed above, plus:
- Experience supervising electronic systems specialists and technicians.
- Experience overseeing Operation and Maintenance vendors for Maintenance operations.
- Experience in the operation and maintenance of an in-line security Baggage Handling Systems or bulk Material Handling system, including knowledge of Allen/Bradley integrated architecture or equivalent.
