The Executive Director is responsible for setting the strategic vision and operational blueprint with the goal of developing the premiere airport transportation and aerospace campus associated with a university. In order to achieve this goal, the Executive Director will foster and leverage crucial relationships across a diverse group of stakeholders, including; a multitude of strategic external business partners; community stakeholders; and cross-functional University leadership.
The Executive Director will spearhead capital investment to advance development, operational stability, and international reputation for education and research at OSU’s Air Transportation and Aerospace Campus. The Executive Director will develop initiatives and implement programs to enhance diversity and inclusion outcomes.
The Executive Director will have direct management responsibility for the Director, Airport Operations and their staff, including the staff for the FBO. In addition, the Executive Director will work collaboratively with Director, Center for Aviation Studies, and the leadership team for the College of Engineering.
Experience developing and implementing complex strategic initiatives with proven success.
Exhibit a collaborative mindset with a demonstrated ability to lead a team across large, complex ecosystems to advance initiatives and deliver results.
Proven track record delivering results including both meaningful top-line revenue improvement as well as bottom-line cost/efficiency management. Financial management experience with a strong focus on performance in an asset-intensive business with multiple revenue streams.
Ability to manage multiple stakeholder relationship with exceptional client relationship management skills.
A deep understanding of the air transportation and aerospace sector.
An ability to bridge multiple constituencies and perspectives with a strong understanding of how to achieve results.
Direct experience working within an organization with a strong customer focus, ideally in an education/academic context. The successful candidate will have a track record of enhancing the customer service experience.

A highly regarded professional with experience in air transportation or aerospace with knowledge and experience of airport industry best practices, standards, and regulations. Consideration will also be given to successful and adaptable executives who bring experience from adjacent and relevant sectors such as transportation & logistics, infrastructure, policy, and real estate.
Experience supporting or leading programs designed to enhance diversity and inclusion outcomes in Air Transportation and Aerospace industries. Ideal candidates will have a record of meaningful engagement with or leadership of diverse groups, perspectives, and disciplines. Ideal candidates will also have a record of supporting and amplifying opportunities for historically disadvantaged groups in the Air Transportation and Aerospace industries.
Experience as a leader with overall cross-functional responsibility for the development and management of an enterprise or complex organization. Ideally, experience as a Chief Executive Officer and, if not, as a divisional or business unit general manager.
Thorough knowledge of financial management, revenue generation, administration, operation, maintenance, planning, development, and utilization of properties, services, and facilities.
Demonstrated track record of establishing and maintaining solid, respectful and trusting relationships with all key stakeholders including boards, appointed governmental officials, airlines, on-airport service providers, business and community leaders, special interest groups, and other stakeholder groups.
Experience in facilities development and capital program management with a track record of on-budget, on-time delivery.
Demonstrated strong project management skills in the context of direct management responsibility for large-scale initiatives involving significant dollar amounts and implications, a large staff and many diverse stakeholder groups.
Strong track record of negotiating effectively.
Strong community outreach-orientation and executive presence with experience representing their organization at very senior levels to a wide variety of audiences, including the community and the public-at-large.
Experience in public administration and/or academia including working at the public-private sector interface.
Strong business and financial acumen and insight.
Experienced and comfortable working in highly visible representational positions.
