The San Diego County Regional Airport Authority (SDCRAA) is seeking a Director of Communications in the External Affairs division. The position is responsible for shaping public perception of SDCRAA and the San Diego International Airport. Managing this perception involves developing communication and media strategies, understanding the importance of timing and setting, responding to crises and setbacks, overseeing a team of diverse communications professionals and ensuring that information released is consistent with the overall Authority strategy. A successful candidate will be able to steward the Authority’s brand and deliver communications initiatives that promote visibility and partnerships. An ideal candidate will possess a four-year college degree and at least ten years of progressively responsible experience in public relations, media relations, communications and at least five of which were in a management capacity. Required Education, Training and Experience:
Graduation from a four-year college or university with a major in communications, public relations, marketing, business administration or a closely related field; and
At least ten years of progressively responsible experience in public relations, media relations, communications and at least five of which were in a management capacity;
Or an equivalent combination or training and experience.
Experience in a governmental setting is preferred.
