We are currently recruiting for a Supervisor of our Airfield Maintenance team that shares in our desire to expand the Gerald R. Ford International Airport Authority by creating an exceptional experience for our guests and employees. Our Airfield Maintenance Supervisor will oversee and direct the employees and contractors engaged in Airfield Maintenance and assist in ensuring compliance with all appropriate FAA airport regulations. The Airfield Maintenance Supervisor will direct teams and develop leaders and associates to create a safe and engaging workplace. Functional areas within the scope of this position include preventative and corrective maintenance programs for airfield Maintenance (roadways, taxiway, vehicles, paving and snow and ice control etc.) and grounds. GFIA is a cold weather station, therefore experience managing snow removal at an airport setting is required. Thorough working knowledge of principles and practices of supervision.
Thorough working knowledge of FAA rules, regulations and requirements governing airfield maintenance and operations.
Thorough working knowledge of construction and maintenance programs and practices for pavement, parking lots, sidewalks and sewers.
Thorough working knowledge of heavy equipment operation, maintenance and repair.
Thorough working knowledge of snow removal practices, protocols and requirements for airfield movement and non-movement areas.
Working knowledge of landscape and grounds maintenance principles and practices, including mowing operations. Working of vehicle maintenance and repair protocols and practices.
Working knowledge of applied mechanics, hydraulics, and pneumatics.
Working knowledge of security and safety protocols and procedures.
Knowledge of preventive maintenance programs and practices.
Knowledge of OSHA/MIOSHA occupational health and safety rules, regulations and requirements.
Excellent interpersonal and human relations skills.
Ability to interact positively and communicate effectively with subordinates, peers, airport contractors, and Patrons from widely diverse cultural and socio-economic backgrounds.
Ability to read and interpret manufacturers’ operating and maintenance manuals for heavy equipment, vehicles, light and hand-held equipment and power tools.
Ability to read and interpret blueprints, engineering and architectural drawings and designs, mechanical drawings, engineering and architectural specifications, diagrams and other specifications.
Ability to prioritize work orders and delegate appropriately.
Ability to estimate time and materials required to complete airfield maintenance and repair assignments.
Computer literacy and basic knowledge of word-processing, and spreadsheet applications software.
