As we grow, we are seeking an experienced Aviation Research Analyst with strong Unmanned Aircraft Systems (UAS) and Urban Air Mobility (UAM) technical, regulatory and operational expertise to support research and development activities. Services will support both internal and external clients in the research, planning and deployment of UAS and/or UAM technology implementation programs, helping them realize their vision and drive toward their goals.
Our team’s research focus includes a broader aperture to include tangential emerging technology and polices regarding UTM, autonomous systems, and other aviation enterprise technology. Additional preferences include candidates with airport planning; air traffic management, FAA regulations; knowledge of obstructions, facility and perimeter security, aircraft rescue and firefighting (ARFF), FOD and pavement assessment; and operational simulation or modeling experience. The Aviation Research Analyst is forward-looking, collaborative, and will expand Woolpert’s footprint as an industry leader within the UAM and emerging technology niches. This position should be considered a nationwide position and could report to one of our 31 offices with preferred location in Egg Harbor, NJ, Dayton, OH or Denver, CO.
Collaborate closely with the Aviation Market staff and research clients to deliver successful research projects.
Assist in business growth of UAS & UAM applications and consulting services by supporting a pipeline of new and existing business/contract opportunities.
Develop and maintain industry expertise in UAS, UAM, UTM, and other emerging technologies and regulations, including partnerships with strategic industry leaders.
Maintain a thought-leader/Subject Matter Expert profile in the industry by preparing related articles, working as part of a collaborative panel and/or speaking at regional and national conferences.
Work with staff to ensure successful project delivery, consistent quality, customer satisfaction, financial performance, and team/office satisfaction.
Lead and support where appropriate proposals, shortlist presentations, and white papers for prospective clients and participate in contract negotiations with clients.
Provide quality reviews of project documentation including work plans thru final deliverables.
Advise clients regarding innovative solutions and content to help them make better decisions. Recommend relevant strategies and solutions and work with customers to prepare implementation and migration strategies.
Understand our clients and know their business. Understand how UAS & UAM technology can help our clients be more successful.
Conducts demonstrations and participates in operational ground and flight tests of both rotary (VTOL/eVTOL) and fixed wing UAVs including off the shelf quad copters and remotely controlled aircraft at US test sites. Experience with building and repairing UAVs is required. Support in test planning, test conduct, and data retrieval from the UAVs is required.
Experience with modeling and simulations a plus but not required.
Associate or Bachelor’s degree in a related field or a minimum of 5+ years’ of related work experience and Remote Pilots Certification (FAA Part 107).
Must be able to obtain and maintain an FAA and/or airport security badge and maneuver safely on an active airfield.
Aviation Subject Matter Expertise in one or more areas: UAS, eVTOL, UTM, UAM or similar technologies.
Ability to professionally represent Woolpert with direct interaction and collaboration with clients, sustaining relationships.
Ability to think outside-the-box with the ability to deliver custom solutions.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills in a dynamic environment.
Must be willing to travel to clients, conferences and other Woolpert offices.
Experience with remote sensing and geospatial data production/management desired but not required.
Demonstrated ability to organize and manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced, matrixed environment
