The Airport Operations Specialist Internship Program is designed to introduce future airport managers to the many facets of managing and operating a Commercial Service Airport. The intern is assigned to work under general direction of the Deputy Director of Operations and Facilities and will be immersed in a variety of projects relating directly to airport operations and security. Work is reviewed through daily activities, projects, conference and analysis of report. Internships shall be twenty-four (24) weeks in length.
Responsibilities and training experiences include: Airside, Terminal and Landside operations; daily inspections; coordination of and response to emergency situations; NOTAM management; wildlife management; snow removal; serves as a liaison between airport management, tenants and the public; prepares appropriate security badges, implements and updates the Airport Certification Manual.
Completion of Bachelor’s Degree in airport management, aviation management, airport operations, aviation maintenance, or closely related field at an accredited college or university;
Candidates should be highly motivated in pursuing airport management as a career field.
Special Requirements: Basic knowledge of 14 CFR Part 139, Certification of Airports, and applicable FAA Advisory Circulars, must be able to pass a federal background check and security threat assessment, have and maintain a valid driver license.
