The employee is responsible for the efficient and economical management, operation, and maintenance of the Airport. Work entails enforcement of aircraft and safety regulations governing the operation of an Airport and responsibility for the safety of life and property in connection with the use of the Airport.
The employee exercises considerable independent judgment in directing the activities of the Airport, with general policy matters being determined by the City of Monroe.
Enforces federal, state, and local rules and regulations governing Airport use. Recommends major expansion and improvement programs for the Airport; recommends additions to and changes in ordinances and regulations governing the use of the Airport. Confers with City officials, Airport users, and lessees, relative to term of leases and agreements; prepares and negotiates leases with tenants and establishes rates and charges.
Prepares periodic and special operating and financial reports; reports budget requests for Airport. Performs related work as required.
Thorough knowledge of Airport management, operation, and maintenance. Considerable knowledge of federal, state, and local rules and regulations governing the use and operation of Airport. Considerable knowledge of modern principles and practices of public and business administration. Ability to determine long-range needs for expansion and reconstruction. Ability to coordinate effectively the activities of a number of subordinates engaged in varied activities. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with subordinates, representatives of other agencies, and the public.
Graduation from a four-year accredited college or university, with major course work in public administration and business administration. Considerable supervisory experience, preferably including supervisory experience in Airport management, operation, and maintenance.
LICENSES AND CERTIFICATES
Possess and maintain a valid Louisiana State driver’s license; acceptable driving record; possession of a Louisiana handgun permit may be required but is not necessarily a requirement of this position. Certification may be required in the future with reasonable time given to do so.
