The Maryland Aviation Administration is currently accepting applications for the position of Director, Commercial Management (DOT MAA Executive) at the Baltimore/Washing International Thurgood Marshall Airport.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to the following: Overseeing all commercial contracts involving airline affairs, commercial business activities including ground transportation, commercial development, and concession activities at BWI Marshall and Martin State Airports (over $250 million in revenue annually); Developing strategic plans for negotiations and engaging in complex negotiations with airlines and other commercial tenants, including in-terminal concessions, advertising, cargo, and ground transportation to increase revenue and develop new revenue streams; Overseeing and implementing the master Airline Use and Lease Agreement with signatory airlines; Drafting complex legal documents; review, amend and approve with delegated authority documents prepared by staff in each respective aeronautical and non-aeronautical functional area under Commercial Management; and overseeing the Office’s annual agency appropriation budget and managing cost allocations and expenditures.
Preferred Qualifications:
Education: Bachelor’s degree in business, finance/economic, accounting, or a related field of study.
Experience: Ten (10) years of experience negotiating and managing commercial/revenue contracts, as well as managing/supervising staff.
The ideal candidate will have:
- An MBA and/or relevant accreditations
- Aviation/transportation industry experience
- The ability to utilize professional expertise, business acumen, leadership and judgment to effectively plan, facilitate and execute the functions/duties required
- The ability to analyze the organization’s competitive position by considering market and industry trends, existing and potential customers (internal and external), and strengths and weaknesses as compared to competitors
- The ability to clearly communicate (both oral and written) to effectively articulate, present and promote varied ideas at a senior level.
- The willingness to take prompt action to accomplish organizational goals and priorities and be nimble to changes
- The capacity to use rational processes to solve problems, find effective solutions, and make timely and sound decisions
