Chicago Executive Airport’s dynamic 24/7/365 operating environment requires Team Members to observe, monitor, and maintain the physical infrastructure of the aircraft operations area as well as maintaining and providing excellent customer service to the Tenants and Users. We are looking for a self-reliant individual that thinks analytically, critically, and exercises diligent judgment to help keep and maintain the operational safety of the Airport environment while primarily working individually. The intent of this new position is to expand and support Chicago Executive Airport’s Operations and Maintenance department mostly on a second shift and weekend basis. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Conducts airfield inspections on a scheduled and on-call basis and issues Notices to Air Missions (NOTAMS).
- Participates in wildlife mitigation duties to remove wildlife hazards using a variety of approved tactics and approaches.
- Respond in a timely manner to all pilot reports of Foreign Object Debris (FOD), airport related incidents/accidents, and emergencies and be able to assess and coordinate if additional resources are needed for a safe resolution.
- Responsible for the planning, forecasting, and observing snow removal activities on a rotational basis. This includes but is not limited to performing friction tests of runways, monitoring present weather conditions and forecasts, and reporting pavement conditions via the Digital NOTAM system.
- Perform movement and non-movement area snow removal operations as assigned by a supervisor to include operation of snow brooms, snowplows, and chemical dispersing vehicles in support of general snow removal operations and staff coverage were assigned.
- Participate in construction, repair, and renovation projects to include grounds, electrical, mechanical, painting, carpentry, concrete, asphalt, plumbing, and others as may be required.
- Perform light vehicle and equipment maintenance, service, and repair.
- Perform airside mowing operating riding mowers, push mowers, and various trimmers.
- Participate in airfield and shop cleanup and perimeter trash removal activities.
- Provide airfield escorts as required for surveys and construction, etc.
- Respond to any complaints made by the public, municipalities, vendors, tenants, or airport personnel.
- Assist tenants with urgent afterhours maintenance needs.
- Assist operations and maintenance personnel to complete time sensitive projects during the evening/nighttime hours when the airfield is less busy as not to disrupt the flow of traffic.
- Perform general maintenance on all types of equipment and vehicles.
REQUIREMENTS:
- Education
- Bachelor’s degree with a major course work in Aviation Management or a closely related field is highly desirable.
- High School education required.
- Any AAAE Certifications are highly desirable.
- Any FAA Private Pilot Certificate is highly desirable.
- Vocational training in mechanical areas is highly desirable.
- Ability to read and understand instructions.
- Experience
- Previous work experience in airport, charter/airline operations is highly desirable.
- Some previous experience in electrical system maintenance or construction work is highly desirable.
- Snow removal experience is desirable.
- Building maintenance experience is desirable.
- Abilities
- Ability to lift up to 50lbs, bend frequently, squat, climb stairs and ladders, reach above shoulder level, and kneel.

- Good mechanical aptitude.
- Ability to work in a variety of temperatures.
- Ability to communicate effectively.
- Ability to operate or learn to operate various types of maintenance equipment.
- Strong computer skills with abilities to operate programs with Microsoft Office, etc.
- Must possess excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- React quickly, physically, and mentally, in response to unexpected events and/or emergencies.
- Possession of a valid motor vehicle operator’s license as issued by the Illinois Secretary of State
- Ability to work different shifts including overnights, weekends, holidays, and mandatory overtime as directed. This is a 24/7/365 work environment.
- One of the essential functions of this position is the ability to get along with co-workers, superiors, and the public.
- Work Mandatory Overtime during the winter months and Airport Special Events.
