The John Wayne Airport has an exciting opportunity to work as a Maintenance Contracts and Project Branch Manager in their Facilities Maintenance Division. The Maintenance Contracts and Project Branch Manager will primarily focus on strategic issues for maintenance operations and is responsible for determining, developing, implementing, and managing policies, procedures, budgets, technical priorities, standards; and scheduling for maintenance, repair, and operation of all facilities, equipment, and utilities, while making program and policy recommendations to the division executive management team. The incumbent will supervise and manage other managers, vendors, and high-level supervisors to ensure that department goals are achieved and will be responsible for performance management. This Branch manages contracted service providers who operate 24/7. The incumbent also leads Airport, Division, and countywide projects/assignments; set vision/mission for assigned unit(s) while ensuring achievement objectives. Also, this position will have a significant level of discretion and accountability regarding program decisions and project milestones.

This recruitment is being held to establish an eligible list to fill current and future Administrative Manager II positions.
The eligible list may also be utilized to fill positions in similar or lower classifications throughout the County of Orange.
DESIRABLE AND CORE COMPETENCIES
The ideal candidate will possess six (6) or more years of knowledge and extensive experience related to managing facility maintenance and operations in an airport or similar industrial or municipal sector, or a multi-facility environment and supervisory experience overseeing contracted services and/or multidisciplinary teams of semi-skilled and skilled craft trades and technicians with various shift work. A Bachelor's degree in a related field is preferred but not required.
The ideal candidate must also possess extensive experience in the following core competencies:
PROFESSIONAL | TECHNICAL EXPERTISE
- Knowledge, experience, and an in-depth understanding of preventative and predictive maintenance
- Extensive knowledge and experience with large, commercial, conveyor systems similar to an Airport Baggage Handling System (BHS)
- Contract procurement, management, and oversight
- Knowledge of Computerized Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS), Environmental Control/Building Automating Systems, and familiarity with troubleshooting similar systems and equipment.
- Knowledge and experience establishing and leading safety training and safety programs in an industrial maintenance environment.
LEADERSHIP | SUPERVISORY SKILLS
- Experience leading large, multidiscipline, maintenance Teams that operate 24/7/365.
- Managing teams to successfully ensure facilities are safe, clean, and functioning properly while concurrently accommodating thousands of people from the general public daily.

- Scheduling for maintenance, repair, and operation of all facilities, equipment, and utilities.

AIRPORT ACCESS REQUIREMENTS
The successful candidate must clear background check which includes a Criminal History Records Check (CHRC), Transportation Security Administration (TSA), and Security Threat Assessment (STA).
WORK HOURS: The selected candidate will generally work regular hours, Monday through Friday, however, due to the 24/7/365 operations of their Division, Incumbents can expect to work a significant amount of time outside of regular working hours. Therefore, the candidate should be available to work days, nights, weekends, holidays, and work after regular working hours for on-call meetings, and to provide leadership for after-hours projects and maintenance activities, as required.
