The Assistant Airside Operations Manager plays a key role in supporting the Airside Operations Manager to ensure the safe, efficient, and compliant operation of the airport, with a primary focus on airside functions. This position assists in managing staff, ensuring compliance with FAR Part 139 and TSR 1542, and overseeing daily operations in the manager’s absence. Responsibilities include supervising airside and landside operations, coordinating snow removal, developing construction safety plans, and supporting training and regulatory programs. The role requires availability for shift duty relief, emergency response, ARFF functions, and 24/7 coverage during winter months. Additional duties involve maintaining stakeholder communication, contributing to scheduling and payroll, inspecting operational progress, and supporting cost analysis for major projects. The Assistant Airside Operations Manager also collaborates with various airport departments and corporate offices, ensuring alignment with company and client policies. Flexibility to work nights, weekends, and holidays is essential in this dynamic, fast-paced environment.

Bachelor’s degree in Aviation Management or other applicable degree programs required. Equivalent experience may be substituted in lieu of degree preference at the discretion of the Airport Manager.
Five years’ experience in aviation, with 2 or more years’ experience in a supervisory role preferred.
Must be capable of performing duties independently in fast-paced and complex environments.
Must be experienced in the performance of Aircraft Rescue and Fire Fighting, airport emergency planning, and snow removal.
Must possess effective verbal and written communication skills.
Must be willing and able to work nights, weekends, and holidays, per operational need.
Maintain skills and qualifications to perform the essential duties of the Assistant Airside Operations Manager position.
Ability to perform the duties of this classification to Company standards, which include, but is not limited to passing, to the satisfaction of the Company, initial and periodic Company tests to ensure the initial and ongoing maintenance of a required level of proficiency.
Must be able to pass security clearance requirements and required drug testing.
Possession of a valid driver’s license and ability to obtain and sustain a valid driver’s license in the person’s state of residence and maintain a driving record compatible with the Company’s insurance company’s criteria.
CERTIFICATIONS, LICENSES, AND TRAINING REQUIREMENTS
Acquires all licenses or certificates required by regulatory agencies.
Meet the required training criteria under FAR Part 139.
Able to successfully complete ARFF training and duties. Employee will be required to undergo regularly scheduled medical evaluations to ensure they are capable of safely utilizing Aircraft Rescue and Firefighting Self-Contained Breathing Apparatus (SCBA).
Completion of 40-Hour ARFF School or the ability to complete within six (6) months from the date of hire.
Meet or exceed the required security training and performance criteria as mandated in the Airport Security Plan.
Successful completion of National Incident Management System (NIMS) Certifications 100, 200, and 700
Must possess AAAE Airport Certified employee (ACE) Operations Certification or the ability to obtain within six (6) months of the date of hire.
Ability to operate heavy snow removal equipment.
Must maintain First Aid/CPR and AED certifications.
The Assistant Airside Operations Manager will be required to maintain the necessary clearances, certifications, licenses, and training associated with assigned duties.
