SUMMARY:Responsible to the Manager, Airport Operations for the efficient operation of the airport while functioning as the Assistant Airport Operations Manager. Supervises and administers the functions and activities of the Construction, Wildlife and Security Supervisor, the Operations Supervisors and the Operation Coordinators. Ensures that the airport maintains operational adherence to the provisions of FAR PART 139 in absence of Manager, Airport Operations.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
Responsible for managing and administering the functions and activities of the Operations Department, providing direction to the Construction, Wildlife and Security Supervisor, Operations Supervisors and Operations Coordinators.
Responsible for implementing effective training programs for all Operational personnel including, but not limited to, new hire orientation, 14 CFR FAR PART 139 regulations and weather observation training. Responsible for implementing effective training programs for all Maintenance personnel related to 14 CFR FAR PART 139 regulations. He/she is also responsible for training Avports staff in all departments as it relates to training required under the organization’s respective OSHA-related Health and Safety Programs, and other training needs as defined by the Manager, Airport Operations and/or Project Manager. Coordinate OSHA training goals with the Teterboro Airport Noise Abatement and Environmental office. All of the above includes directly training the staff, overseeing “on-the-job” training in various forms, and arranging for and monitoring third-party trainers.
Direct and oversee the Safety Management System (SMS) and all related initiatives.
Supervises and directs personnel in charge of airport operations, which includes security, aeronautical inspections and tenant compliance.
Responsible for being on-site to provide oversight and coordination for all snow removal efforts.
Maintain and ensure compliance with the Airport Certification Manual (ACM), Airport Emergency Plan (AEP), Snow & Ice Control Plan (SICP), FAA regulations, company policies and procedures, and all other rules and regulations as they pertain to Teterboro Airport operations.
Ensures compliance with current and pertinent FAA regulations, company policies and procedures, and good housekeeping.
Establishing and maintaining positive lines of communication between various entitles such as local communities, the aviation community and the F.A.A.
On a regular and as needed basis, will be responsible for all aspects included in the Operations Supervisor’s job description; at times may be required to fill-in for the Operations Supervisors on an assigned shift.
Represent the airport in matters at various sponsor, public and user organized represented meetings.
Responsible for directly supporting Avports’ Quality Management System (QMS).
Represent the Manager, Airport Operations in his/her absence.
Performs other duties, as assigned.
SKILLS and QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor’s degree in Aviation Business Management, Engineering or related field preferred.
At least two (2) years’ experience in airport operations or related experience with at least one (1) year in a supervisory position.
Demonstrated ability to function and supervise in a complex environment.
Through appropriate training, must be able to qualify for NWS weather observations, and ability to operate heavy equipment including but not limited to snow removal vehicles and forklifts,
Ability to work various shifts, including midnights and holidays as necessary.
Possession of a valid driver’s license and ability to obtain and sustain a valid driver’s license in the person’s state of residence and maintain driver record compatible with Company’s insurance company’s criteria.
Must possess excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Comprehensive knowledge of airport operations, FAA and related regulations, methodology and terminology.
Ability to work in and support a teamwork environment, including the airport’s Safety Management System (SMS).
Ability to work in a teamwork environment and support Avports’ Quality Management System registered to ANSI/ISO/ASQ Q9001-2015 or related standard.
If necessary, individual must be willing and be able to work nights, weekends, and holidays.
Strong computer skills with ability to effectively utilize programs such as MS Office Suite and adobe products with ability to learn newly introduced programs.
Maintain currency in all FAA operational matters including Federal, State and Local regulations as they apply to Teterboro Airport and communicate information to staff.
Continued ability to meet the necessary skills and qualifications to perform the duties of the Operations Supervisors position as identified within the current Operations Supervisor job description.
Ability to effectively interact with staff at all levels including but not limited to on and off airport personnel as well as all complainants, local, state, and federally elected and appointed officials and local community residents, individually or through public settings on technical information related to all facets of Teterboro Airport’s Noise program
Pilot’s license, with instrument rating, and/or dispatcher’s license is desirable.
Ability to perform the duties of this classification.
