The Deputy Director of Operations & Maintenance provides direct supervision and leadership to Operations, Maintenance, Facilities and Fire Department personnel, ensuring efficient and effective airport performance. The position also participates in and provides technical guidance and oversight on airport projects and initiatives and serves as Acting Director of Airports in the Director’s absence. Minimum Qualifications

1.  Education and Experience:
2.  Bachelor’s degree in Aviation, Airport Management, Public or Business Administration, or closely related field required,  AND  B.  Seven (7) years of progressively responsible experience and/or training that includes Airport Operations. Must be or become a Certified Member (CM) or Airport Certified Employee (ACE) by AAAE within 12 months of employment; OR C. Any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience which provides the requisite knowledge, skills, and abilities for this job. An equivalent combination of education and experience.
3.  Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

Thorough knowledge of the FAA Regulations, FDOT License Requirements and all applicable advisory circulars. 

Well organized, high energy, data driven, and results oriented. Strategic thinker and effective collaborator with external stakeholders and across all organizational levels. Knowledge of aviation issues and trends related to aviation planning and/or airport management and planning.

Ability to lead and communicate effectively with airport team, stakeholders, governmental agencies, and other county departments.  Ability to work and plan independently; maintain concentration and multi-task in high traffic office environment with multiple interruptions from staff or citizens requiring assistance; quickly reason through complex processes and situations.

Ability to analyze, integrate and interpret data from various sources, and implement programs. Ability to make independent objective judgments, exercise authority when appropriate, resolve conflicts, and maintain confidentiality of extremely sensitive information.

Ability to read, analyze and interpret general business written material and to solve situations as they arise.  Ability to write clear, concise reports, correspondence, and procedure materials.  Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from various groups; managers, employees, customers, tenants, Federal, State, and Local authorities, and the general public.

Ability to listen and communicate effectively, verbally and in writing; make basic common-sense decisions where established procedures do not always apply; ability to develop effective working relationships with supervisor, coworkers, tenants, and the public.  Represent the Airport Authority at public meetings.
