The salary range for this position is $150,000 - $180,000. A starting salary above the mid-point is achievable for the exceptional candidate and will be dependent upon experience. BJC offers an attractive benefits package and will assist with relocation costs.
Jefferson County, Colorado is seeking an Airport Director for the Rocky Mountain Metropolitan Airport (BJC). The Airport Director is a pivotal leadership role responsible for ensuring the safe, efficient, and financially sustainable operation of BJC. The incumbent will oversee diverse functions, including day-to-day airport operations, budgeting, maintenance, and development initiatives. The Airport Director will play a crucial role in communicating the airport’s status to key stakeholders, including the Chief Financial Officer and County Commissioners. A 4-year degree in Public Administration, Aviation, or Air Traffic Control. 9 years of directly related experience in airport management, aviation, operations, business, public administration, or a related field, including 5 years of supervisory experience.

This dynamic position requires a strategic leader with a comprehensive understanding of airport management, recent experience in managing GA Airport issues (Noise, Leaded Fuels, Compatible Land Use, Community Involvement, etc.), negotiation skills, transparency, and a commitment to maintaining the highest standards of safety and efficiency. The Airport Director needs to be politically savvy, diplomatic, a strong communicator and a leader who builds strong trusting relationships. The Airport Director will contribute to the overall success of the Rocky Mountain Metropolitan Airport.
