Hiring Range: $136,489.60 - $167,065.60 annually.
Pay Range Explanation:
Pay range is the entire compensation range for the position classification.
Hiring range is an estimate of where you can receive an offer. The actual salary offer will carefully consider a wide range of factors, including your skills, qualifications, experience, education, licenses, training, and internal equity.
The City contributes 9% of salary into 457/401(a) plans with no matching required. $4,200/annual car allowance and $1,440/annual cell phone allowance.
Internal Only: Please understand that this is pay grade 848. If selected, your salary offer will be based on the applicable promotion or demotion worksheet in accordance with the City Pay Ordinance.
Promotions occur when the last two digits of the pay grade increase.

The Deputy Aviation Director of Public Safety and Security provides leadership overseeing the day-to-day management of the Airport's Security Badging & Compliance programs, the Airport Command Center, Emergency Preparedness, Airport Duty Manager, and the Airport Safety Management System programs. This position also provides strategic direction to Phoenix Police and Fire airport units; is the liaison with the TSA, FAA, CBP, and FBI on airport safety and security related topics, as well as federal, state, and local emergency response agencies.
This assignment requires a high degree of communication and collaboration with all Aviation Department divisions. Candidates must have the ability to structure and organize the division for optimal performance based on sound security-based practices.
The position reports to the Assistant Aviation Director/Chief Operating Officer. Work requires managerial skill, technical knowledge in the area of safety and security practices, teamwork, and effective decision making. Other duties and management responsibilities may be assigned.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Five years of experience in performing aviation management.
Three years of experience in staff management, including experience working with union representative work groups.
A bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in public or business administration, security studies, aviation, law enforcement, or related field; Master's preferred.
Other combinations of experience and education which meet the minimum requirements may be substituted.

Some positions require the use of personal or City vehicles on City business. Individuals must be physically capable of operating the vehicles safely, possess a valid driver's license and have an acceptable driving record. Use of a personal vehicle for City business will be prohibited if the employee is not authorized to drive a City vehicle or if the employee does not have personal insurance coverage.
