The Ohio State University Airport (Don Scott Field, KOSU) in Columbus, OH seeks an Assistant Airport Director to lead airfield operations and maintenance at its Part 139 certified general aviation reliever airport. This role manages a team of 10, ensures FAA compliance, coordinates with FAA Tech Ops and ATC, oversees airfield/building/equipment maintenance including snow removal, directs staff training and emergency response, supports grant administration, and leads capital improvement projects. The Assistant Director collaborates with stakeholders and may serve as Acting Airport Director.
Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in Aviation, Business Administration, or related field (or equivalent experience); minimum 7 years in airport operations/management; expertise in airfield management, FAA regulations, and certification; proven leadership, communication, and problem solving skills; ability to manage multiple projects independently.
Compensation: Target hiring range $103,000–$134,500, based on education, experience, and equity.

Required Qualifications:
• Bachelor’s degree in business administration, Aviation, or a related field of study or equivalent education and experience.
• 7 years’ experience in Airport Operations Management.
• Demonstrate expertise in airfield management and airport operations.
• Strong knowledge of FAA regulations and airport certification requirements.
• Proven leadership and team management capabilities.
• Excellent communication, coordination, and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to manage multiple projects with competing deadlines and meet regulatory deadlines.
• Valid Driver’s License
• Strong business and financial acumen and insight.

The Ohio State University Airport (KOSU) has grown from its early start as a wartime pilot training facility to central Ohio’s premier executive airport and one of the nation’s top university-owned and -operated facilities. Today, it serves to educate Ohio State’s future aviation professionals, support university research and provide convenient access for corporate and leisure travelers.
The Airport Director directly oversees multiple divisions that each are managed by an Assistant Director including, Airfield Operations/Maintenance, FBO, Aircraft Maintenance and Ohio State University's 20 aircraft Flight School serving over 150 students per semester.
The airport is home to 180 based aircraft, the State of Ohio Aviation Department, OSU Aeronautical Research Center, and multiple corporate tenants. The airport is the 4th busiest in Ohio and has 3 runways and 1,500 acres.
