Most airport leaders spend their careers managing projects.
This opportunity offers the chance to shape the future of an entire airport system.
The Sacramento County Department of Airports (SCDA) is seeking an experienced aviation planning, engineering, architecture, or capital development leader to serve as its next Deputy Director of Planning & Development. SCDA operates four airports that serve more than 13.8 million passengers annually and is currently advancing one of the most ambitious airport development programs in California.
This executive leadership position will help oversee the implementation of SCDA's nearly $2 billion Capital Improvement Program, including the $1.4 billion SMForward initiative that is transforming Sacramento International Airport through terminal expansion, additional gates, a new ground transportation center, parking facilities, roadway improvements, an elevated pedestrian walkway, and a future Consolidated Rental Car Facility (ConRAC).
Reporting to the Assistant Airport Director, the Deputy Director provides executive oversight of airport planning, environmental, design, development, and capital project delivery functions while leading multidisciplinary teams and collaborating with airlines, consultants, regulators, and regional partners. This leader will help guide the implementation of the Airport's long-range Master Plan and continue SCDA's reputation as an industry innovator in project delivery, infrastructure funding, and airport development.
